This is our bucket list and go-to-guide of luxury destinations to be explored in 2018…

1. Amanyangyun, Shanghai, China

2018 is the year to discover this astonishing architectural wonder.

Just outside downtown Shanghai, a cherished camphor forest sets the scene for Aman’s fourth destination in China. ‘Amanyangyun’ meaning “nourishing cloud”, is a philosophy borne by the story of the trees and dwellings at Amanyangyun’s heart. Saved from demolition, these Ming- and Qing-dynasty residences have been reassembled, brick by ancient brick, to create peaceful, refined spaces.

Light-filled with forest views, interiors are finished in wood, stone and bamboo

2. Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali

Pioneers of all things eco-luxe Six Senses are storming into 2018 with a bevy of new properties, including in Bhutan, Fiji, Cambodia and Turkey. For their new resort on Bali, they are right in their element on an island that is so deeply rooted with tranquillity.

Set atop a rugged cliff, the resort shares a spectacular view with the island’s famed Uluwatu Temple, one of the key temples to Bali’s spiritual history. True to Six Senses’ inimitable style, Six Senses Bali includes stunning villas that draw upon the local culture, embrace nature and offer every visitor comfort. The Six Senses Spa features locally inspired specialty treatments together with an extensive range of signature therapies.

There are multi-day wellness and detox programs, as well as a selection of activities and complimentary morning yoga. This promises to be truly blissful!

3. Four Seasons Seychelles at Desroches Island, Seychelles

A slice of paradise beckons at Four Seasons’ second Seychelles property.

It’s easy to see why this illustrious group chose the island of Desroches; located just 35 minutes from Mahé, this is as picture perfect as an island hideaway gets. Four Seasons Seychelles offers sheer exclusivity. As one of the most idyllic and untouched islands in the world, it enthrals with over 14 kilometres of immaculate beach. The feel of the resort is definitely castaway chic, with architecture that brings the tropics inside, and amazing pools just steps from that cerulean blue Indian Ocean.

Perfect for couples and families alike, this luxurious island hideaway is heaven for nature lovers, as guests are invited to wander and explore the back-to-nature feel of this special place and the captivating flora and fauna that inhabits it on both land and sea.

4. Baglioni Resort, Maldives

This is definitely one to watch, as this Italian luxury hotel group makes its Indian Ocean debut.

Perfectly located on the paradise island of Maagau in the Dhaalu Atoll, this will be a vision of eco-luxe, with just shy of a hundred chic, whitewashed villas which will combine Italian elegance with an island vibe. With a pool to die for, and three restaurants, this will be a new go-to destination for the Maldives in 2018.

Created from sustainable materials and employing eco-sensitive practices to minimise the environmental impact, this will be the perfect destination for an unforgettable holiday.

5. Seven Pines, Ibiza

Ibiza is hotter than ever before.

With 2017’s new Nobu Ibiza Bay, the trend for rediscovery continues apace into 2018 with the arrival of 7 Pines on the west coast, in the lush green countryside of this famous island. The resort will offer a selection of authentic whitewashed Ibizenco homes, all of which have been completely refurbished whilst respecting the original design and building methods. No efforts have been spared to cater for the individual demands of the luxury traveller.

There will even be a 24-metre Pershing yacht available for charter.

6. Rosewood Baha Mar, Bahamas

Set to be a new Caribbean classic, Rosewood Baha Mar will pair Nassau’s British colonial heritage with the Bahamian zest for life, and pay tribute to the island’s glamorous past whilst offering the height of luxury.

Gracing a pristine stretch of white-sand coastline along Cable Beach, this stunning property will offer private beach access, a host of leisure pursuits on both land and sea. The resort’s two restaurants and three bars channel the spirit of this tropical destination.

Ranging from fine dining at Commonwealth, where guests can step into the elegant Rum Room for private dinners, to a relaxing beach bar with expansive views of the turquoise sea, the resort’s culinary experiences reflect a combination of modern and authentic island influences.

7. Raffles Singapore, Singapore

Not quite a new hotel, but absolutely a totally refreshed and rejuvenated one!

Making its premier in mid-2018, this iconic Asian masterpiece will return in true Raffles style. This will be the most in-depth refurbishment since the original extension in 1902, with this illustrious hotel being brought into the future. Even the “Raffles white” façade is being stripped back and restored.

Prepared to be wowed all over again by this truly beautiful hotel, and to plan for a return!

8. Shinta Mani Wild, Cambodia

The latest brainchild and fantasy-made-reality hotel designed by Bill Bensley, is an ultimate-luxury tented camp experience like no other.

Located in one of the most incredible wildlife spots in Southeast Asia, the site will feature 16 custom designed tents perched beautifully next to water, providing views par excellence and experiences that will take you back in time to being an explorer in this ancient and fascinating land.

This is a radical new concept for a luxury camp experience, combining world class design, hospitality and conservation that will not only protect threatened wildlands, but will also create new and sustainable opportunities for the people that traditionally call these lands home.

9. Blackadore Caye, Belize

The term “game changer” could have been designed for this new eco-resort, owned by Leonardo di Caprio.

Blackadore Caye will be one of the world’s most exclusive island retreats, located in beautiful Belize behind the world’s second largest barrier reef.

With a vision to create the future home of the greenest luxury development ever built, this is the world’s first truly restorative island development; completely powered by renewable energy and designed to increase the biological health of species on the island and in the waters around it. The resort here will be centred on health, wellness and sustainability.

The atmosphere is definitely LA-meets-jungle chic, with Mayan art, drop dead gorgeous pools and beautiful interior design touches at every turn.

10. The Langley, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom

The former country estate of the third Duke of Marlborough, The Langley will be a luxury hotel and spa set in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside.

As sister hotel to The Wellesley Knightsbridge, this property will offer the same level of luxury and exclusivity, but with its own unique character and setting, just 40 minutes from London.

Sitting in a former royal hunting ground and with landscaping originally designed by England’s greatest gardener, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, the setting of this grand country manor is amidst acres of formal gardens and parklands.

The hotel’s boutique selection of suites are designed by Dennis Irvine Studio, with ultimate sophistication in mind.
